I had been looking for a pair of red patent ballet flats for years. I didn't choose this initially, because I prefer a smooth finish to the wrinkly one these shoes have. But after a long time of looking I decided to go give these a try. I have never had Frye shoes or boots before and the quality is as expected. They feel very well made and sturdy, and the leather is very soft. The red is a gorgeous color that perfectly straddles the line between orange/red and blue/red - not to bright, not too dark. All my other shoes are 8.5 and these run true to size. My big toes did poke up a bit at first, but as they have stretched that is no longer a problem. They are so light it's like wearing nothing. The only reason for my 4 star rating is my preference for a smooth finish.
