I've had a pair of Docs before. They were my favourite shoe. Best value for money and lasted longer than any other boot. In the meantime I've become vegetarian and have been looking for a non leather strong boot but was having trouble finding them. I decided to give the vegan boot a try and I'm completely satisfied. Nice and soft, had them broken in within a couple of days. Great colour, well made and no animal has suffered. Big tick from me. Want the Cherry Red now!

New Balance Men's M940 Running Shoe,White/Blue,11 4E US Review

I've been a fan of New Balance shoes for years (20+). It seems, however, that they are going the way of many other brands (slowly reducing the quality of their product). I used to wear New Balance exclusively (cross trainers, running and even dress shoes). One by one, though, the quality has diminished and I have ceased wearing them until finally I was down to one shoe that I still really liked (the 940).

I have worn the 940 since it came out and was very pleased with the shoe. I typically went through 3 pairs per year due to a relatively high mileage routine. When the 940V2 came out I got a pair. Within six miles my right foot was sore. Upon inspection I found that the insole of the shoe was curling (and tearing), from the side, and rolling under my foot. In that short time it was beyond repair. Needles to say I returned the shoe.

I went to a New Balance store and pointed out the flaw in the shoe to the representative (run your finger down the inside of the shoe, near the heel, and it will catch the insole and begin to curl). He stated that he could get a different pair of insoles for the shoe to resolve the issue. I politely declined since I find it rather irritating to repair a brand new shoe in order to make them fit to wear.

I tried to find stores that were still selling the older model 940's but it seems everyone else had the same idea. Now, for the first time in 20 years I'll be shopping for a new brand. Kinda stinks......

The boots are comfortable and let your feet breath well. I'm in southern Afghanistan where it averages 108 to 110 Fahrenheit daily, so this is important to me. However, a month after wearing them, the right boot began separating between the sole and the leather, at the inside toe area. Tried glueing it but not sticking. Have to send back. What a pain, being here in a war zone and having to deal with this. Hopefully the next pair will be right.

Do you have wide feet? Have you struggled to find a soccer shoe that didn't harm your balance/agility? That didn't leave you feeling like you were playing in figure skates?

After 15 years of playing at club/college level, I was resigned to the idea that my performance would always be undermined by my cleats. That I'd have sore feet and rolled ankles on a regular basis. Occasionally I'd find a Kelme or Puma model that seemed to help, but they'd be discontinued or redesigned. A couple months ago I finally diagnosed the problem - I have really wide feet and really high arches. And soccer shoes (even more so in the last 10 years) come with really narrow soleplates and zero arch support. Hence the 'figure skates' sensation - when you cut/pivot/sprint, your foot is rolling off the edges of the soleplate and your arch is unsupported, straining all the muscles in your foot. If you're wondering why wide-footed professionals don't have this problem with their Nike/adidas/etc. models - their soleplates are all custom made to their feet.

For the rest of us, salvation comes from Asics. Apparently wide feet and high arches are more common in the asian gene pool, so the demand for a suitable shoe has led to this latest model from Japan - the DS Light Wide Fit. The soleplate is 1/2" wider than Copas or Kings and the arch support is noticeably better. There's a lot of gimmicky 'technology' that goes into high-end soccer shoes, but the DS Light is not about that. It changes the basic geometry of the shoe to complement a certain type of foot - and if you have that type of foot this boot will make your soccer-playing life much happier.

Personally, it was a revelation. Better balance/stability, better first touch, better endurance (no sore feet after 45 minutes). I've never written a review on Amazon before, but feel like I owe it to anyone out there who may have similar problems. Try this boot. It ended 15 years of frustration for me...

I saw these shoes on a lady at the museum where I work. She told me she had bought them in London but I could get them thru Amazon, so I did. They are the most comfortable shoes I have worn in a long time. The inner sole is well padded and the leather is so soft and supple one would think it was lamb leather. The fit is spot on and the strap has a Velcro closure making little adjustments easy. I got the black pair and have worn them to where I work which has stone floors so comfort is really important to me. They arrived quickly with no problems. If the red pair weren't more expensive then the black ones, I would have gotten them instead.

These are my main shoes currently, they are a beautiful tan color that I get many compliments on. I can wear these with jeans or light colored slacks and they look great. When I first put these on, they felt great and there was not really a break in period. The next day my feet were slightly sore but wearing them again caused no issues. These shoes have a rubber sole that make walking quite and safe on slippery surfaces.

Two things to be aware of with these shoes, these are moc toed which means they pull slightly up in the front. When I wear boot cut jeans, people actually think I am wearing boots. The second thing to know is you CAN NOT polish these with brown shoe polish! It will ruin the color and you will have to strip them of all polish to restore. Purchase some kiwi tan shoe polish which is available through Amazon.
