I needed a pair of black shoes to wear with my tuxedo (as infrequently as I wear it; my cheap patent shoes, 11 years old, separated like a body on a "Bones"), maybe every now and then when I have to attend a funeral (me and my friends are old), but especially for dancing (square and ballroom). OK. So: long, smooth vamp that will take, if not a patent leather shine, at least a deep gleam; unobjectionable style; but most of all, good support, soft comfort, and a reasonable compromise between a soft leather sole and a low-friction composition. Well, folks, I am here to tell you that these Clarks are exactly what I needed. They are true to size. The D-width is indeed a D-width. The counter holds on. They have enough style for my sweetie to announce a new respect. (I thought that was odd). They are wonderfully light. The price was not outrageous. Because the vamp stitching is on the sides, they present a clean look in a tux but will do fine with a jacket. Did I say they are comfortable? I did? Thank you, Clarks Shoes.
