I bought this boot because I needed a decent boot that I could also wear to work. I ride to work about 3 days a week, weather permitting. I have grown to like these boots so much that I actually am now wearing them any time I ride. I can work decent distances in them and they don't hurt. They have a decent grip on them so they don't slide on my floor boards and the vibration is no greater then if I were in any other type of footwear. I got caught in the rain on more then one occasion wearing these. The first time, before I got to put my rain gear on, all of me was soaked except for my feet. So that says what you need to know about them being water resistant. I wouldn't call them water proof however due to the top. The opening at the top is wide enough to slide my up my lower thigh, but of course they barely come up to my shin.
the only negatives I have about these boots are these
- heel is way too high for a man's boot
- they are as tough to get on as they are to get off though after wearing a few times it does get easier (not easy)
- the part that comes over my leg could have been a little taller
