I keep looking for something exactly like this-lug sole, heels, tough-girly looking to wear for contrast w/dresses & skinny jeans.
So, I was really happy to find & order these. I had a similar pair of shoes by Harley years ago which I wore out.
I had read the reviews which said they ran large but that is an understatement. They are HUGE.
I normally wear a 6 and have average width feet (a little narrow in the heels, a little wide at the toes). I ordered these in a 5.5 and was so disappointed when I put them on. The ankles are almost as wide as my mid-calf and my feet just swim in the shoes. Even large "boot size" inserts aren't enough & the huge ankle gap is still there; so I have to return them. In fact the size issue definitely affects the appearance of the boot. At least in 5.5; they do not look "tapered" to the ankle like the picture; but like a stove pipe with the ankle opening going straight up from the body of the boot. Makes the shape unflattering on me.
The leather quality is medium--not as soft or thick as really high-end boots; but not cheap or "pleather" looking either. I would consider re-ordering if I could find in a 5 narrow; but that's probably doubtful.
