I have been on the search for a pair of slippers that I can wear all day that also have great arch support. I work from home and wear my slippers all of the time. I have high arches and must have great arch support. I've tried my orthotics in cheaper slippers, but they just didn't fit comfortably or wouldn't stay on my feet without flopping around. I considered the pricey Haflingers, but I have a narrow foot and most of their styles are just too wide for my feet. I came across Giessweins on the internet and did some research. The reviews for arch support in these slippers were excellent. Amazon had a great price, free shipping and free returns, so I decided they were worth a try. I am not disappointed. The removable insole has excellent arch support. You can put in your own orthodic, but you probably won't need it. I don't. I normally wear a 7 1/2 womens and a 38 in Dansko. I ordered the 39 in these because of reviews that they run a little short. The 39 was perfect. I also love that this style comes up around my foot and has an adjustable pull around the ankle. I don't like slippers that are flopping around and falling off my foot. I don't want to squeeze my toes to keep them on my feet. This style stays on and I can walk comfortably.Boiled wool is soft, not itchy. It is very breathable, yet my feet stay warm here in Ohio.
The only complaint that I can come up with is that my socks sometimes get pulled down into the slippers. I'm not sure if it's the insole or the boiled wool that grips the sock and eventually pulls them down. I have better luck with knee high socks. I believe that German slippers like these are meant to be worn without socks. They are quite comfortable and warm without socks, but most of the day I'll wear them with my socks on. It's not a huge deal to me. I'll take comfort any day and my socks stay in place most of the time.
I highly recommend you give these a try! My difficult feet are very happy.
