These are great boots. They feel very high quality, and feel much more expensive than what I paid for them. They fit snugly (order a half size bigger than your would normally, I usually wear 11.5 but ordered 12 and they are pretty snug), and make your feet feel like they are well protected. Your feet do not slide around or hit the steel toe cap causing pain or blistering. The weight of your body is transferred throughout the whole foot, instead of being concentrated on the heel only, like alot of other boots do. The large heel on these boots shift some of the weight on the balls of your feet, reducing pressure and soreness on the heel. The boot also has a slight arch support, allowing your foot muscles to be more relaxed. I feel like they could use more arch support in my opinion. My feet still do get sore after working for 10 hours but not even close to the amount of discomfort caused by my old Wolverine boots, even with a Dr. Scholl's gel insert in them. With my old Wolverines I used to have severe foot soreness and even knee pain from over extending my legs after standing all day. These almost completely eliminated my knee pain. There is no padding at the bottom of the footbed, which could be a good or a bad thing. The lug sole bottom is great for walking through thick mud, watery mud, standing water, dust, gravel, wet concrete etc. I've yet to slip or loose my footing, even going up inclines. The steel shank in the sole reduces the amount of prodding your feet would normally feel in a boot without a shank when your travelling across uneven surfaces or gravel and rocks. The waterproofing works great and have not had a leak yet. I can't really rate the insulation yet since I've yet to wear them in cold conditions, but they feel nice and snug and warm so far. I feel like the insulation also serves as a padding in the boot, as they are pretty comfortable. They do require some breaking in as they are very stiff initially. I still feel like I'm breaking mine in even after a few weeks working in them. It will take some time to get used to the 8" upper if you've never worn boots that high as it restricts some of your ankle flex. Overall these are very good boots and I recommend them for working. Most of the consumer Reviews tell that the "Men's Carolina® 8" 600 Grams Thinsulate™ Insulated Steel Toe Logger Boots Copper, COPPER, 11.5" are high quality item.
